Erin Egelkrout, PH.D.

Working Towards A More Sustainable Planet


Erin Egelkrout is a Senior Scientist at ABI. She is responsible for a project aimed at expressing cellulose-degrading enzymes in transgenic maize, from construction of DNA constructs through maize transformation, plant tissue culture, and analysis of transgene expression. She has also contributed to projects aimed at development of a transgenic seed sterility system, expressing the sweet protein brazzein in transgenic maize, and development of an oral Hepatitis B vaccine.
Before joining ABI, Dr. Egelkrout was at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, and North Carolina State University, Raleigh.
